Guest speakers

We are pleased to announce that the following speakers will address the participants of the 1st WEMEP session in The Hague:

    • Mr. Piet Hein Donner, vice-president of the Council of State

Piet Hein Donner is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). He is de vice-president of the council of state since 2012. He also was minister of interior and kingdom relations, minister of social affairs and employment, and minister of justice.

    • Mrs. Ingrid van Engelshoven, member of the executive board of the City of The Hague

Ingrid van Engelshoven is a Dutch politician of Democrats ‘66 (D66). She is a city council member of The Hague and after the next national elections she will leave the city and serve in the Dutch parliament.

    • Mrs. Marietje Schaake, member of the European Parliament

Marietje Schaake has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament for the Dutch Democratic Party (D66) with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) since 2009. She is Coordinator on the International Trade Committee and is the spokesperson for the ALDE Group on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). Marietje Schaake also serves on the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Human Rights. She is the founder of the European Parliament Intergroup on the Digital Agenda for Europe. Furthermore, Marietje Schaake is the Vice-President of the US Delegation and serves on the Iran Delegation and the Delegation for the Arab Peninsula. She is a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum and serves on its Global Future Council on the Future of Digital Economy and Society. Schaake serves on the Supervisory Board of Free Press Unlimited and is a Member of the European Council on Foreign Relations.

  • Mr. Ton Elias, first vice-president of the Dutch House of Representatives

Ton Elias is a Dutch politician and a former journalist. As a member of the People’s party for freedom and democracy (VVD) he has been the MP since 2008.
